Designers, engineers, manufacturers and suppliers from the bike community are invited to imX 2011 (Interactive Manufacturing Experience) in Las Vegas, to learn and meet with the people behind today’s cutting edge manufacturing technology.
Following a compelling debut episode documenting the 2010 Chilean mine rescue, the Edge Factor Show once again captures a glimpse of what happens when man puts his life in the hands of the machine. Gnarly Metal features slopestyle athletes Mike Montgomery and Casey Groves, and was filmed on Vancouver Island, on location at Straitline Components and the FMB (Freeride Mountain Bike) World Tour silver event Jump Ship.

The Edge Factor features host and producer Jeremy Bout. The show replaces and even overwhelms the false perception that modern manufacturing is boring and outdated. Cinema-quality filmmaking tells the stories of people who are manufacturing products ranging from high performance mountain bike components to jet fighter parts. Each episode documents the manufacturing technology used to create those parts, as well as the professionals who use that technology every day.
Starting at 1pm, Gnarly Metal is 22 minutes long, and premieres at imX 2011 in the Las Vegas Convention Center. imX is an invitation only event, with a focus on learning how improved productivity can improve profitability for manufacturers. It is a gathering of some of the biggest names in the manufacturing industry, and an opportunity to meet face-to-face with industry experts about the latest technologies and processes. imX will appeal to those who wish to meet the rapidly changing business environment head on, exploring how companies can be more globally competitive, get into production and to market faster, and run leaner and more flexible.

So stoked! That made biking seem so intense, especially with the movie guy voice. Coming this Fall...One man...One destiny...One bike to rule them all...Looks sick though, finished product should be rad; Montgomery shredding! Can't wait to see Episode two.
Yeah but with the whole BMX community laughing at how overally dramatic it is... I really hope there's more to this movie than one big commercial with a few trails and comp. shots mixed in. I won't be shocked if people find this comment insulting but that's my observation and I'd be more than happy to be proved wrong.
I disagree, SSC stems suck, pedals are way overpriced for the quality, I think the only product that actually works well from this company is the chain guide...
I appreciate your suggestion dude and no I'm not gonna give you negative props cause only kids do that! I think their products are really great depends on how you use it really, their pedals, stem, and other products are really great and it does what it suppose to do if you use it in something that its not suppose to do then ya it probably sucks balls and will break or something.. so I'm sure that it depends on how you use the products, and that for all parts out there!
Honestly though, I would never get a straitline stem. (the SSC that is). Ive heard too many stories of it slipping. My stems slipped twice in 2ish years, and ive heard people that have their straitline stem slip 5 times a day.
He didn't say that he hated the stem, he just said that he is getting rid of blue, what if he will get the same stem but black version.... he didn't say anything about them, or did he?.....
Professionals use Straightline you know? http://www.pinkbike.com/video/201848/ it mean, it works cause, professionals go hard on every parts of their bikes to test if its good or not.
Stems slip like a loose bitch. Pedals have tephlon plastic spacers, that don't hold grease, sqweek, get worn quickly, then straitline asks 30$ for the replacement kit. A $150 pedal that has plastic supporting your weight, yet the pedal isn't even light, I would much rather a set of bearings and a lighter weight, if I'm paying that price. Sure your feet stick to the pedal like glue, but way over priced, just like the rest of their products.
My Straightline stem (SSC) has worked perfectly - bolts get greased, bolts get tightened. To say they slip is odd, since there's easily enough torque to over tighten the 2 split-steerer bolts to damage the steerer. Lube the bolts up like you do for yourself when you think of your moms you little f'ing whiners.
I thought the whole thing came off a bit cheesy. The show will be awesome as they talk about the stuff that goes into bike development and show some great riding, but it is not going to be some action movie or some 3.5 hour epic fantasy where frodo has to bike into a volcano. They are just trying to get the crowd that knows nothing about biking interested which is awesome. I hope it works.
there's something super lame about a bunch of suits hyping up a three day conference as if it's going to change the world. looking forward to the debrief vid where they tell us what genius ideas they've actually come up with and how it's going to translate to better bikes for us
Is it only me who sees the irony that they are trying to boost homeland production and manufacturing with this video yet feature Mike Monty who rides a made in Taiwan bike.... doesn't really say much for their cause!
lol that was not dubstep, it was generic epic music with some elements of dubstep. but yeah metal would have been good, considering the name of the program.
Except the music tempo needs to match the video tempo and physics can't always keep up with metal. That and you need to be able to hear the announcer's voice.
