It all looks so much smaller from the GoPro perspective than it does in the pics in the other articles. It's weird. Even the air time seems comparable to what it FEELS like when I'm riding. I know it isn't since all of those hits are like 3X (or more) bigger than most of my stuff. It really says a lot about the speed ...dude is flying, despite the "Grab a quick brake!" after the first drop.
I'd sh*t my 4 times while being on the "skinny" (I'm assuming) 20ft+ high north shore (the falls will be epic), and the only noise I'd be able to make on these 40 footers would be a scream of fear and death. I'm stoked
that northshore is mad, wouldnt like to fall off it thats for sure....thing is with north shore, whether its 3 ft high or 30ft high, its all the same, just looks alot scarier when higher. great course though, cant wait to watch it
Next person to call a skinny or ladder bridge 'north shore' is getting nasty hate mail from me.
FFS the North Shore is a region of Vancouver BC where the mountains are, it's not a style of riding. You don't see people going around saying Macaskill rides Berlin style or cam mccaul shreds epic seattle.
@Sentinel13 I know what you mean. When you look at a jump, you think "That's big!" Because you often don't consider how fast you'll go over it and how big you and your bike are. It looks sick though! I'd ride that all day...
Unhallowed - deal with it. It may not be technically correct to call it any ladder bridge 'north shore' but that's what a lot of the mountain biking community refer to it as. Just as people may call all vacuum cleaners a 'hoover' even if not made by the Hoover brand or calling a biro pen a 'bic'.
It's the first time I hear that "north shore" is not the propper term. It must be a Euro thing. I never even hear about "skinny" or "ladder bridge". I don't think it will be possible to change the habit of calling a ladder bridge a north shore...
It's hardly doing any harm if people choose to call it that. Some people may actually be proud that the place where they come from developed a type of riding that spread across the world and is now being referred to by that name. Not you though, too busy hatin'.
@ stinkysam its ovbious not the same if its 3ft high or 30 ft high there is a 27ft differenance! and its not the same cause the 3ft one would not be scary at all and the 30ft one would make me shit my pants! they are pretty different
Yeah, it must just be the guys who invented it that call it the right thing...............Just know that when you call in "northshore" in the lift line at whistler, that we are all laughing at you.
not bothered, yous call it what yous like, calling it a skinny or ladder bridge sounds G*y.......northshore shouds much better and im sure everyone in europe would agree with me here
Actually... Ignorance is a state of being uninformed (lack of knowledge). The word "ignorant" is an adjective describing a person in the state of being unaware and is often used as an insult.
Unhallowed... it's pretty clear that facts are not an important aspect of this conversation. I'd say give up on these children and let them call things that they would never have the balls to ride whatever they want.... From now on I am going to refer to skinnys and ladders as napalm and cheeseburgers respectively.
This is the kind of freeride course you could see more from slopestyle events back in the day but this one is much better and this is the kind of courses slopestyle events should look like. Not just a bounch of jumps like it was a dirtjump contest. Awesome!
i have a feeling that some of the younger kids in this are gonna have some slip up on the first step on with the skinnies. thats old school stuff that the older guys rode on back in the day
did he clear the drop after it? Kinda looked like (and I'm most likely wrong) he clipped the back wheel on the lip? Who am I to comment anyway, I cant ride for shit compared to the claw! Awesome course
If you listen to Darren's comments as he's riding you'll hear, "Going way too slow off of this drop." Yeah, I'd say he clipped it, but the fact that he saw it coming and still powered through the next two booters tells all you need to know about Bearclaw style!
the squirrel catcher skinnies at the start are going to ensure this is a MOUNTAIN BIKE slopestyle event and not just a glorified BMX DJ contest on 26" wheels
Anthony is there my guess is because Mike Montgomery's bikes got stolen and he is a back up rider seeing as Anthony just got there yesterday at around 11 and everyone else got there wed.
YEAAAAHHHH HELLLL TRACK....I am stoked you just mentioned those two names!! Have you seen the event they are throwing for RAD 25th Anniversary? Later this month...
Im not really a fan of the Claw but I have to say he knows how to build a course! Thats the best set of jumps i've seen in a long while and Im now buzzing for the comp
"Hi my names adirtjumper2010 and... Im not really a fan of the Claw, ive never met him, rode with him, or even high fived him. He shreds hard and builds the best courses known to man... Buuut, y'know, not really a fan"
I never said he was bad... I think he's an amazing rider. I've just never really followed him. Calm down guys, I've spent all day watching his videos and finding stuff out about him because I never knew much. Sorry if that offended you guys...
